Vacation Skincare: What You Should Bring When Traveling

Guess what? It is the holiday season again. While packing is fun, you should know what you should bring regarding your skincare. Making a list of obvious (toothpaste and your brush) and less obvious things might be a smart idea.

If you are traveling by airplane, you need to be aware - your skin can get dry and dehydrated. Sometimes, your skincare routine will depend on where you are going. We covered all these things just in time for your vacation packing.

Pre-Travel Skincare

New Products Before Vacation

Avoid experimenting before taking a vacation. If your skin is sensitive, or you are prone to skin reactions then avoid any new products before vacation.

On the other hand, if you are eager to try out new products, then give them a try before vacation. Even if reactions appear, you will be able to work on them in the comfort of your home.

Travel Containers

Travel containers are a great thing for vacation. Shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and body shower can be transferred into these small bottles. They will use less space in your bag and be more convenient to use.

However, don’t transfer all products. Those whose active ingredients can be exposed should be kept in the original package. Here is where a travel size set comes in handy. All products are in one place, and you don’t need to worry about forgetting something at home.

Hydration Boost

Hydration is important on vacation. Not only during but also before and after. Inevitably, skin loses moisture, so it is important to use ingredients that will amp up hydration.

Hyaluronic acid is a perfect ingredient that you should introduce to your skin before vacation. Also, don’t forget to use body lotion, face masks, and lip balms.

Leave These At Home

These are some of the products you can leave at home. However, don’t forget to use them before travel.

  • Facial brushes and scrubs
  • Facial scrubs
  • Toners
  • Face masks

During Travel Skincare

Always Bring Sunscreen

As always, you should bring your sunscreen with you, wherever you go. Even if you are traveling by plane, you can’t take the risk of a burn. A moisturizer with broad-spectrum and SPF 50 will be your best friend while traveling. It can protect you from premature aging, sun damage, and UV radiation.

Don’t Forget Your Lips and Hands

Sometimes all the effort is spent on the face, while we forget two very important parts to hydrate. Our lips and hands can get extremely dry, especially during flights and traveling. And believe us - there is nothing more annoying than cracked lips and dry hands.

Dry hands in combination with sanitizer become unbearable, and that is why it is important to take your favorite hand creme with you. The same applies to the lips as well.

Go For Antioxidants in Skincare

UV rays and free radicals are two things that can ruin your skin, moreover, ruin your vacation. If they are bad boys, then antioxidants are the good ones that will protect you.

When you travel by plane, you should choose skincare products with antioxidants. Niacinamide, vitamin C, and resveratrol are just some of the ingredients that are good for protecting your skin.

Post Travel Skincare

Gentle Approach and Restoring

When you come back from your vacation, it is important to focus on restoring your skin. You will inevitably lose some moisture, so this is the goal to aim for. You can use gentle cleansers in combination with ingredients that will restore your skin and make it healthy-looking again.

Look for the ingredients that will restore the skin, like niacinamide, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid.

Bring Face Masks and Treatments Back into Routine

While you unpack, put on a light sheet mask, or a leave-in treatment. This is a great way to relax, but also to make your skin healthy and dewy again. You can choose between purifying masks that will work on removing acne and clogged pores or using a hydrating one for a moisture boost.

Post-Travel Facial

If you prefer, you can go and see your dermatologist for special treatment. They might be expensive, but if you experienced some kind of skin problem, then you should go. A post-travel facial is definitely worth it.
