Low-Maintenance and Easy Ways to Getting Smoother Skin

Rough skin is a common condition, especially in transitional seasons, like spring or fall. It can make your skin appear dull, without the necessary glow, while causing acne to appear and those dead skin cells almost visible.

Fortunately, there are a few easy ways that you can fight rough skin and make it look and feel smoother. From using a humidifier to moisturizing properly - we have listed those that can actually help.

What Can Cause Skin to Become Rough?

Let’s first understand what can cause your skin to be rough and lose its smoothness. Whether it is excess rubbing, lack of moisture, or over-exposure to water and other irritants - it can actually happen to everybody.

The ingredients in skincare products can also be contributors to rough skin. Solution? Avoid alcohol-based products and make sure to learn which products your skin loves and which do not.

Lack of sun protection and sun exposure can also lead to rough skin. Make sure to know how many times you can exfoliate your skin. Even though it is an important step of a skincare routine, over-exfoliation with AHA or BHA acids can actually make your skin very dry and rough.

Here is what you can do to make your skin smoother.

Add Hyaluronic Acid to your Skincare Routine

It is very important to choose a moisturizer that can complement your skin’s needs. To make your skin smooth and hydrated you need to add ingredients that will draw in moisture. Humectants hyaluronic acid and glycerin or ceramides and squalane are the ingredients to look for. They will draw the water into the skin and make it look plump and glowy.

Hyaluronic acid is one of the key ingredients in our Power Bomb essence. Side by side with niacinamide and snail mucin, this essence will surely give that glow back, by gently restoring natural balance. Hyaluronic acid tends to decrease in the skin, due to pollution, smoke, and UV radiation, and that can lead to dry and rough skin.

Incorporate Vitamin C

Vitamin C is great for protecting the skin from damage caused by free radicals. This vitamin rebuilds the skin’s structure and stimulates the skin’s collagen production.

When you apply vitamin C serum in the morning, always follow it with sunscreen. Exposure to UV lights has been shown to decrease vitamin C levels in the skin. It is good to know that vitamin C is an antioxidant so it can have a longer effect than sunscreen (it penetrates deeper into the skin).

Don’t Forget your Hands And Feet

You should use an exfoliator on places like knees, elbows, hands, feet, and heels, before using a moisturizer. The product that will assure full hydration of these usually rough and dry areas should contain lactic acid and urea.

If your hands are rough and dry, cover them with a thick layer of your favorite hand creme and wear gloves overnight.

Sleep With Humidifier

Humidifier in a bedroom is great for your skin. It can reduce the loss of moisture while you sleep. This is especially important in winter when the air tends to be very dry inside, due to conditioning and heating.

Use Moisturizer That Has Protectants

Protectants like butters, petrolatum, oils, and waxes seal in the moisture. Use them after taking a bath while your skin is still damp. That is how it will absorb more of a product. If your skin feels extra rough and dry, for a smoother feeling add a body oil before applying a lotion or moisturizer.
